Summaries

Because the excerpt is used for main content like the body is, you use the custom field called summary to write brief descriptions of an article. Just type straight in.

Extra style

The custom field cssinhead can be used to put page specific styling in the head of each document. Just type it as usual. For example, body {color: #ff0;}

Google friendly

The metadesc and metakeyw custom fields should be used for description and keywords of a page. Together with a good title and descriptive headings, they help Google as well as visitors find you.

Images

You can change the logo image to one of your own very easily. It should be 480px by 56px or less and you find it as a background in the Main Menu section of the stylesheet. You will find the body background near the top of the stylesheet.

Article Templates

Using TXP developer Mary Fredborg's Save New button, you can create and use pages as templates.This pullout uses span class="pullr"

Read carefully

  1. Go into the Content | Articles tab and select this article
  2. Change the title (at the top)
  3. Change the url-only title (bottom left)
  4. Change the section (right side)
  5. Click More and change the date (right side)
  6. Click Save New and OK
  7. In the Articles tab, you should now see your new document listed and the template should still be listed too with a different date and/or time. Return to your new article and you can now replace the dummy text with your own. The HTML elements start with something between the < and > and end with the same thing between the </ and >. So you can copy and paste but be sure each element has a beginning and an end. Save regularly.
  8. With the custom fields, if you are using Windows, use Ctrl+A to select all, Ctrl+X to cut, Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste. It is easier to work outside the custom field. Note that the br tag is a single tag that takes you onto the next line. The img tag is also a single tag, so is self-closing with /> at the end of it.
